The Wild Horses of Corolla are the official state horse of North Carolina.  They are  descendants of colonial Spanish Mustangs brought by explorers about 500 years ago.  These  beautiful, wild horses roam free along the beach areas of Corolla and Carova.

For my birthday a few years, we went to see them and it was such an incredible memory! I try to go see them at least once a year.
